Lemon Balm Herb Benefits: Stress, Anxiety, Insomnia Relief & More!

I have been super impressed with Lemon Balm Herb! So much so, that I am making this post to talk about how amazing it is. I have been drinking Lemon Balm Herb Tea in the morning and at bed time and completely feel the calming zentastic benefits. I have even started using more hippy terminology like “relax man” and “breathe in all the blessings”.

Lemon Balm Herb is excellent for so many reasons but let me start at the beginning.

Lemon Balm Herb is a part of the Mint family or if your into regal terminology, the Mint Kingdom. Lemon Balm Herb was used historically in ancient Greece, and is still used today to alleviate some of the same ailments of ancient times.


Lemon Balm Herb (Melissa Officinalis) has been known to perform as a general mood booster, providing a sense of calm and happiness. Happiness seems to be a stretch but considering Lemon Balm Herb is known to also relieve insomnia….I can see some happy points being cashed out.

Lemon Balm is also considered a great aid for improved focus for scholastic testing. There was a study documented in Prevention Magazine (2007) that studied two groups of adolescents. One half of the group received placebo and the other received Lemon Balm Herb. The Lemon Balm Herb group tested significantly better than the group taking the placebo’s for up to 6 hours post LBH ingestion.

Lemon Balm Herb is also an excellent resource for nausea, indigestion, and bloat. Even PMS symptoms are ideally curbed with Lemon Balm Herb Intake. It is however important to consult with a medical professional in cases of nausea relating to pregnancy.

Lemon Balm Herb Tea Recipe:

1 TBSP. Lemon Balm Herb

8-12 oz Boiling Water

Directions: Place tea in a tea filter if using loose leaf Lemon Balm Herb. Place tea filter in a mug. Pour boiling water over tea and allow to steep for 3-5 minutes. The tea should be a rich Amber shade. Enjoy!
